Congratulations to Tavi Riders

Congratulations go to Tavi Riders for getting a majority vote at the Tavistock Town Council meeting yesterday for their new BMX track to be built in the Meadows. Just goes to show, it doesn’t matter how old or young you are, you can be part of the planning and decision making processes in your community. Good luck to Vicki and the group for their funding bid and Westden looks forward to seeing works commencing early next year.

One step closer for Tavi Riders

It was great to see the front page of the Tavistock Times Gazette filled with news about youngsters in Tavistock, namely the Tavi Riders, who have moved one step closer to securing their BMX facility in the Meadows. It may be an inspriration to other youngsters in Tavistock to realise that they can have a important impact on their community around them and to feel part of the decision making processes of the town.

Westden encourages community member participation and congratulates Tavi Riders and their supporters at the Youth Cafe for their immense hardwork and for winning this vote. We hope next week’s news will give the final green-light.

Lucie Ponsford, who has started volunteering up at the Youth Cafe is in discussion with Vicky Lloyd about regenerating some open space behind the cafe as part of Westden’s garden initiative. The idea of the young people taking the control of the project themselves is exactly what Westden are looking for and we can simply advise and support.
