Westden supports the Transition Tavistock movement whose strategy is to meet the twin challenges of peak oil and climate change. This community based initiative aims to build local resilience and reduce the use of energy and resources.
The main focus Transition is to get people engaged in discussion about the pressing ideas and questions the community have for Tavistock (and surroundings) concerning challenges such as climate change and dwindling oil supplies.
What do we need to do to ensure a more sustainable community?
Westden encourages all members of the community to get involved with some facet of Transition Tavistock. Perhaps someone feels like running a film night which shows enviromental films etc to encourage debate and action. Or perhaps, you feel like starting a composting scheme for Tavistock?
It doesn’t matter what the ideas are, get them aired, come together and lets make them happen. We must all take responsibility for the place we live in.
The Transition Tavistock working groups are:
- Energy
- Transport
- Food
- Waste
